]i would not hit that with a grinder.[/B]

you could smeer some course valve lapping compound on that shaft and lap it down. i think that may work and it would result in a better fit.

I believe these last posts are concerning using a new alum pulley on an original or later pump housing that has the cast housing interfering with the back of the pulley, locking it up. That's not the poster's problem.

that is not the issue.
it appears he had installed the pully onto the shaft either with or without the key being in the incorrect position. the fan/pully assembly got stuck onto the shaft, he had problems getting it back off to see why. the pully sustained damage and i would assume the pump shaft may have as well. this would make the items unreturnable and he would not get his money back.
so in effort for him to use the 2 items we were trying to come up with ideas on how to get the fan assemble to fit properly on the tapered shaft.

if you have an idea on how he can do that please let him know.

I put on a different generator. The pulley on the generator is farther away from the body.
I attached a picture of the latest installation. It is better but not perfect. Thanks for all the help and tips.
I’m trying to figure out how to post a picture.
