model a frame speader

I have some pictures of a very simple frame spreader that a friend made. I have since made one like it - it took 4 or 5 hours to make once you have the square tubing and 3/4" all thread rod. Email me and I can send you some pictures of the spreader with a tape measure next to it showing some of the dimensions.

Sorry but I'm just thinking like an old hull fitter imposing my will on unwilling aluminum and tac welding it in place after I shrink it or streatch it to size.

Typically it's weld on a couple of dogs and slam in wedges or tac weld on a pad eye and pull with two, three, or more 5 ton chain jacks, let her sit over night. Next morning the chain pulls are slack. Gotta Move. Says so in the book.

So how about a 4 x 4 cut to length and a bottle hydraulic jack?

skip.

I will try to post the pictures of the frame spreader a friend constructed. There is a tape measure laying along side some of the pictures to show the dimensions. I build one myself and it took about 4 hours just using the pictures as a reference once I had the parts. The main parts consist of 1" square tubing, 3/4" all-thread and some 3/4" nuts and a few small angle iron pieces. Make sure the all-thread fit inside the tubing as some tubing has very thick walls. It works very good and is quite simple to make.
