making a louder beep

I recently had my horn off and discovered one of the leads was in poor shape. But before I found that I had adjusted the "adjuster" screw at the back centre of the horn. It seems to be held in place by a locknut. Anyways, I adjusted this screw and now am trying to find my way back to getting a healthier honk out of it. The horn will sound but it is on the weak side. Should I just keep trying to adjust for sound or is there a better way. Does turning the screw in make the horn louder? Is there an optimum position and if so how does one find it? Nothing serious here but would like to hear what you think
