Magnesium rods and pistons.

A friend has a set of what he believes are magnesium rods and pistons for a flathead .
He bought them in the 60's from a circle track engine builder.
has anyone else got info on such a thing?

In a NON critical area take some filings off.
Put them on a fire brick and put the torch to them and see if they burn.

I do not think they would make a piston out of magnesium because it burns .
As Pete said check to see if it burns, it will catch fire easy and burn with colors in it.
A vary hard fire to put out also...NEVER use water to put out a mag fire C02 or halon only!
