MAFCA Pendleton event coverage

You got to sit next to a real Model A veteran while riding in Ed & Monika Tolman's car. We'll need to get him a little "I Am The Warranty" Tshirt. Everyone who takes him to bigger event adds something to his coveralls.

The pig in the L.A. County Fair logo is Thummer the Pig, the fair's official mascot since 1948. Originally known as "Porky the Hitchhiking Pig," he was rebranded as Thummer in 1952 following a naming contest

I've got a tin fold over pin of "Porky" from when my grandmother took me to the L.A. County fair in 1950, I was 5 years old. Great memories!

Thanks, man!!! I know the story with that mascot, since Monika told me at the NCRG meet. Neat!

Paul, I was afraid you didn't get to enjoy the meet too much. In every repair tent picture, we see you bending over an engine compartment. Thanks for all you do.

I was definitely running around everywhere, and VERY sleep deprived at the end. The truth is, if I could just be in the repair tent the whole time and do nothing else, that would be ideal for me. I could do without all the other stuff and be perfectly happy.

Our club, (Walla Walla Sweet A's) had responsibility for the repair tent, and as president of the club, I spent as much time there as anyone, but everyone jumped in. We were certainly busy. There were a couple of engine swaps, a couple of complete clutch replacements, a couple of head replacements, several head gaskets and then everything else you would see after a week of daily tours. Mind you that for the most part, the owners and their respective clubs jumped in and did the majority of work on those major jobs.

It seems that Paul was drafted on several occasions to jump in and do some wrenching. (I think he looked forward to it.) We certainly appreciated that, and his knowledge was also apparent.

There were many instances where some did not know their Model A's and we gladly helped them and sent nobody away.

To be honest, the level of needed repair we saw was more than I was expecting, but we had a lot of fun doing it!

Hey Bill-

Sir, it was an HONOR to wrench with you and your clubmates!! When asked to jump in, I eagerly did mainly because YOU made it even more fun than normal!! Thank you again and again for the great time!
