Looking for a readable, reliable guide

I am a great fan of the Les Andrews series of rebuild, repair, and maintenance tasks for the Model A. Is there anything similar available for a 1940 Tudor? I am not a knowledgeable, trained mechanic, but have enjoyed rebuilding and maintaining for almost 20 years my 1930 pickup based on the organized, logical, and detailed instructions available in the Andrews books. The information available in the Forum and from other internet sources work best for me as supplements to a detailed guidebook. Any suggestions for some quality sources would be greatly appreciated.

John, I have heard that Model A fans have that advantage over V 8 fans, but have never actually seen the books you mention. For the V8, though, I value MoToRs Manuals very highly. They are continuing editions beginning with coverage of 1935 cars of all makes, and for your 1940 Ford, I would get the Eleventh Edition, as it contains all of the previous information, while later editions begin to edit the earlier knowledge. I can’t praise this resource enough, and very reasonably priced. A garage copy can be had for perhaps $15, while a library copy will go for twice that. One more clue on which one to get: For any car, don’t get the edition of the same year, give it a couple years to gain all the info available for the chosen model year.

Something that will help you is to purchase the 1940 book from the Early Ford V-8 Club. Lots of great information for the 40 owner. You can purchase it on the V-8 Club website.www.earlyfordv8.org. Go to the "online store" for the book.
