Long lasting engines

Assuming that everything is done right, how many miles can I expect to get out of a stock, properly rebuilt and balanced Model A engine? How long did they last when they were new?

The original Ford engine in my S/W ran out of shim at 72K miles. I got 6 more before the rod started softly knocking and I pulled it. But that was Ford babbitt. These days its so variable depending on who poured the bearings or built the engine that I wouldn't have a clue. My inserted engine has 20K on it now.
