Last April I pulled my transmission out of my 41 Pickup for a rebuild. I found the cluster gear was missing two teeth from second gear. After checking several suppliers I finally found a set of gears. At the time no one had stock gears, but I found a supplier who had a set of Lincoln Zephryr gears in stock. I had heard the aftermarket gears were noisy so I asked how the gears he had were. I was assured he had used several sets with no problems. After less then 3,000 miles, the gearbox needs gears again. The cluster is missing about four teeth on third gear and first gear is missing a tooth. When I rebuilt the gearbox all parts were replaced (shims, spacers, syncro assembly, roller bearings, everything but the reverse idler). Anyone else had problems with the aftermarket Lincoln Zephyr gears? Truck was driven gently with no clutch drops, and easy shifts into all gears.
