Lincoln Capri front brake shoes issue

I'm sorry, I meant the text that you showed and referred to.

As for the adj. slots on the drums, you know that hasn't been around for a time so that is a no-go.

FORD used a similar system on the 54 and early 55. It was found to retro-fit the late 55 and 56 type to earlier applications as correct original service parts are hard to find. Everything is CHI-COM now and makes it even worse.

You can find quality rear shoes but not the front. I think it has something to do with going to front disc or the rear shoes being from a later similar application.

What did you mean by 'brake shoe web incorrect'?

Look at the diagram of a shoe assy -

You can see the difference(s) between the replacement and take-off. Therein lies the biggest problem.

@KULTULZ The brake adjustment pdf was copied from an early '50s Ford factory service manual. Not sure which one; but thinking pick-up. One of the local libraries has factory manuals from early '50s on up on the shelves. I find them as a valuable resource.

I appreciate that. I am dying to see the 54 LINC WSM as their design was somewhat different than FORD-MERC.

OLD FART and still learn something everyday (except where I left the car keys).

I was near that library and thought I would check. Found that I had actually copied that brake info from the 1952 Ford car manual.

Sorry to say there was not any early Lincoln manuals; seems to me some of the early manuals have "walked off".

I really appreciate your checking and posting. The FORD had a system that also used a brake shoe eccentric whereas it appears the LINC did not use the eccentric, although the adj. anchor pin was used.

Quite the collection. Mine is nowhere as complete but I wish I had that period LINC WSM MANUAL. It now has me wondering, as I often do, especially when someone strikes a match.

!!! THANX AGAIN !!!

I've worked on the type you are describing down at the old gas station back in the 60's. Like this brake set-up in one of my old Motors Manual. The book doesn't reference a FoMoCo application; but I could swear it was a Ford or Merc that used it.

Now that is interesting. It shows rear drum w/ eccentric.

Am I going to have to spend my limited BUDMAN FUNDS to buy a period LINC WSM?
