Installing Sidemount Brackets

I cannot seem to figure out to install the two sidemount spare tire brackets. I have a '30 Standard Coupe. It did not initially have sidemount fenders, and when the new ones were installed, there were no holes cut for the sidemounts brackets. This was the way I got the car.. Brackets, but no instructions...

Where do I start ....ANYONE......? Help....!

try going to don turley's website, on the old "barn" I can remember him giving precise method on how to mark the fenders for holes if that is what you're looking for, if not I have no idea what you're looking for as you say brkts already installed

I guess I was somewhat misleading as the brackets have not been installed yet. The sidemount fenders are already on the car. I am working on how to install the brackets...Sorry

I will check out the site you mentioned...Thanx

Sounds like you need to locat the holes on the frame. There should be a hole on the frame where the sidemount arm nut can be accessed. Look for centerpunch marks around it on the frame. Then drill them to 1/4". Ford stopped drilling the holes sometime in early 30, but they still centerpunched them for easy location for dealer installed sidemounts. There may be more details on Pluck's site also. Rod
