insalling Phenolic spacer

Just installed a Phenolic spacer under my Holly Carb, took it for test drive engine ran great, engine temp gauge ran 190 deg in city 180 deg on highway, after it got up to 180 to 190 deg on idle ran rough, adjusted carb smoothed out a little, checked the timing it was at 10 deg before TD. measured the temp at manifold under spacer ran 190 deg, on top of spacer the carb measured 140 deg, big difference. the tappets are very noisy, need adjusted and reset timing. car runs great. I only have 250 miles on rebuild. Best its ever run.

The spacers make a big difference with vapor lock and does give a performance edge too. I have a Holley 4150, 700 CFM. My intake is a Dart air-gap dual plane and it sits up high. I have a Moroso spacer and use Mr. Gasket gaskets.

Nice to sort out a new build. I'm around 500 miles on my '59 Ford and it runs well.
