idle adjustment

took the wagon out for the memorial day parade at idle i watch the rpm's drop and the carb seams like it is loading up car wont idle if i rev it',it drops back to 1000 rpms and slowly goes down till it stalls also seams to be running rough i have a 1406 edelbrock with the spacer plate it ran great last year any thoughts? thanks in advance

sounds like the carb is flooding, when it starts to act up tap on carb where fuel line goes in, you may have to take the top of the carb off and check float for binding, you might try removing the inlet gas line at the fuel pump and puting on a temp gas line running to a one gallon can with a bottle of carb and fuel injector cleaner and a half gallon of gas and run it thru the carb

I agree could be flooding caused by float binding, but could also be caused by a little piece of crud trapped in the fuel inlet fitting above the needle, which would prevent the needle from closing all the way, thus also causing it to flood

Try an old school steel needle and brass seat. OMO. ken ct.
