How to remove roller tracts from backing plate?

How do you remove the roller tract from the backing plates? I looked at how they are mounted and the only way that I see to remove them would be to grind off the stud end on the backside of the backing plate is this the correct way to do it? I didn't want to mess up anything by removing them wrong because I have new tracts coming from Bratton's for front and rear,Thanks Robert DeBord

Center punch the back sides and drill them out using a slightly smaller drill bit than the rivit shank. Rod

I agree with Ed and Ray 64. I weld and grind the tracks on mine. I once replaced the front tracks on one of mine and it still had to be modified to get the brakes centered. Good luck.

For the small charge for the new tracks, I would replace them! Welding and grinding, check, welding and grinding, check, welding and grinding, check, gets to be a bit boring. Grind the rivet head off at the rear, and go for it!
