How to determine car value?

Jim, if it were me I would put in a new LeBaron Bonney interior. Tudors aren't bad and I've done a few Model As, the tudors being the easiest. Get the kit and do a little at a time starting with the headliner then clean up the body as best you can, check the brakes and drive and enjoy it. Looks like a great car by the way. As far as the value, after the upholstery is in I would think it would be in the mid range of NADA pricing.

Socaljoe, I saw that same one on Ebay....be interesting to see if it gets a bid though.

I plan on getting the mechanicals good first and then doing the interior. Yes it will be LeBonney... trying to get the courage up to do it myself...I can afford to have someone else do it, but I'd rather be able to say "I did it" on a so so job, than pay a shop for a perfect one.

Chuck...I am definately keeping this one. Just trying to understand what I have. Thanks to all the input I have a good feel for its value now. I am still amazed at the prices of some parts though.

For now,

Clean it up and get it in good condition mechanically BUT DO NOT RESTORE IT,OR PAINT IT. Take it to a Early V-8 Meet. The guys will go nuts over it.

At a later date, the car can be restored but after that, it can never be un-restored.

The good original unrestored cars are really getting the attention and are bringing excellent prices. I have an old "Patina" '32 Hot Rod that looks way worse then your car. Ten years ago, I would not have wanted to have it parked in my driveway but now everybody really gets excited about it.

As for value, it is hard to say. I am thinking somewhere between 20 and 30K. There is a car sort of simular to yours here in Pasadena that is currently on EBay.

That is my opinion,

Chris

NADAguides.com is the guide many insurance companies use to determine replacement values. It's a good start, but not an absolute. Old cars weekly has a price guide as well. In the end, it is what the market dictates at any given time.

I'd check the NADA price guide online. Here's a link to their site:

http://www.nadaguides.com/

I've used this when negotiating an insurance value for collector car insurance.

NADA has fairly accurate prices for a 32 tudor, In your case who cares if its worth 8000 or 18000, you can put 5000 into it and keep it and enjoy it. Do the interior youself, take your time, its not very difficult.

almost any $$$ you put in a 32 is well spent. 3 window larry for the hamb said it best. "you didn't spend too much for it, you just bought it too soon" and honestly you are working on a "family" car. even if it was a yugo it would still be worth spending the $$$$ on it. it helps that ist worth some coin, but still worth it
