Horn wiring

I converted my 38 to 12V and am installing an aftermarket wiring harness. Is there a way to wire the oringinal horn button so it will work instead of having to install a button under the dash?

I've been trying to use original wire w/o success. I connected wire from relay to new set of horns, ran a ground wire and tried connecting new column wire for horn to each one of the four wires running to right side of car on the original harness. None of them seem to work. Unfortunately I didn't mark the original harness wire when I removed original horn so not sure which one is correct.

You can use the original horn button with the system you are putting in. I converted my '36 coupe to a 12V system with an E-Z Wiring Harness. If you have the lighting switch at the base of the steering column as I have, then connect the center terminal wire to a relay, connect another wire from the fuse block to the relay and then a third wire from the relay to the horn(s) (I have 2 horns connected in series so that each horn gets 6 volts) and then a wire from the last horn to ground. Be sure the horn switch is well grounded and if you use two horns, adjust them first for the same resistance.

So if I use the wires built into the new harness I would connect the wire marked "horn" on the column harness to the center wire at the bottom of the steering column and the "horn" wire in the new front harness to the horns and accomplish the same thing right? This would utilize the relay already installed on the fuse block.

Thanks to being steered in the right direction I finally got it to work by routing the column wire through the firewall and connecting it to the center wire at bottom of column and hooking up wire from relay to horns. Thanks to all for ideas.
