We have several vendor spaces in the Hershey Chocolate Field, next door to Jordon Beller of the Beller Museum (Commercial Model A's, 1932 Fords, etc), Jim Thomas of Autotiques (author of the "Advertising the Model A Ford" book) ......and just down the row from where the MAFCA tent is usually set up.
From a seller's perspective, we find that sales are the best on Tuesday. Buyers come by, buy what they want (often with little negotiations) and move on as they search out the harder to find goodies as they are unpacked, early in the show.
Sales taper off until Thursday when people seem to take more time to just brows and socialize. Late Wednesday and Thursday we tend to sell a lot of our left over "junque", repro signs, tools, and other smaller less expensive items when people take the time to more carefully look though our things for sale (binders of Model A sales literature, Model A magazine ads, era car photos, etc).
We usually pack up on Thursday afternoon/evening and then go to the car show on Friday.
As for a hotel room, book early (only changeable reservations however). We book early but monitor hotel room prices through out the year and if we find one where the price goes down, we re-book for that room. We also usually pay for the room using hotel points, so our actual room cost ends up being free.
