Help in identifying distributor

I've searched both this forum and Y-blocksforever as well as John Mummert's site, but still can't figure out what I have. Please let me know if you know what this distributor is:
Stamped on outside on plate:
FDT-12127 (to the right of this appears to be either R2 or B2) Also, under the 12127 is 502

Stamped on the inside on the bottom of the bowl:
FDB-12131 - B

I'm also including a picture. The vacuum canister(s) is not attached but I have a double vacuum from a 1956 dist. I hope will work with this and I can use on a remanufactured 292.

thanks,

According to a Ford parts listing I have, FDT-12127-B is for 1956 passenger car 292 or 312 with 4 barrel carb (dual diaphragm),

That's definitely a Loadamatic distributor, springs are visible above the points plate. It's a vacuum only unit, no centrifugal advance and will only play well with the matching carb. If you're going to use anything other than a teapot carb you need a '57 or later distributor.

Also, 502 is the date code (2nd week of October, 1955). Makes it fairly early 1956 production.

Thanks to all. I think I lucked out and this will work for my 56 bird. I do have the 56 teapot carb. Finally something on this car that did not bankrupt me. I picked it up on Ebay for just $60.

Now, since I did so well on the distributor, can anyone tell me if the solid-state breakerless electronic ignition system in the Concours Parts catalog (part # 12000-FT-55/56) would work with this distributor and teapot carb? I believe this item is the Pertronix Igniter 1283 system.

thanks

Since my bird had a 239 engine put in it by the PO, it had an electric tach instead of the mechanical tachometer drive.

IMHO, "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Changing too many things at once can make tracking down any problems with a new engine more difficult. Try the stock points for a while and change them out later if you want to. I'm a little gun-shy about aftermarket ignition conversions, I had one leave me in the middle of a left turn in front of an oncoming dump truck.
