I am adjusting the brake rods on my 33 pickup, how do you know what the right length is? How much play does the arm coming out of the backing plate usually have? Any tips/help is appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Does anyone have that? I don't have any service bulletins and would like to drive this thing...soon :D

The arm should be 15% forward and not past vertical when fully actuated ,at that point the wheel should be locked .Bring up the adjustment on the hubs till locked then back them of till free .Then work on the rods , whose length will be controlled by the adjuster links on the top of the shoes and the king pin rod ,or how worn the shoes and drum are .having the right linings also is important ,

Chris,
May I suggest installing a set of FLATHEAD TEDs brake
shoe floater kits in your '34...a very noticeable improvement in
braking!
