Gordon Smith Compressor

How is the road over from Seattle?

And how do you think it will be in early march for a 31foot RV to get across to Mt. Rushmore?

You should not have a problem. We get a wet heavy spring snow just about every year. They can be in March, April and May. They are usually 4 to 6 feet. Everybody is usually dug out in a couple of days. The state usually gets out their cool Oshkosh rotary snow plows.I think all of the FWD rotaries are out of service now. They have some newer ones but they do not grunt, snort and smoke like the old ones. They have some rotaries mounted on front end loaders but they are not eventful. The windrows left by the rotaries are really compact and hard. Give me a shout when you get here.

An old saying "If it is not snowing on the fourth of July we play baseball".

I think you may have misunderstood me.

I did not mean just a V8 driving a compressor air end.

I was going to remove one V8 head completely, and fit a very thick piece of angle to make a hybrid.

The upright of the angle would bolt against the manifold to block that side off.

Fit 4 inlet and outlet flapper valves to each chamber .

Somehow keep that side hydraulic lifters in place or have zero oil pressure.

One bank is 4 cylinder power, the other bank is 4 cylinder compressor.

But a 289 firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8, so it can't be done.

Would not run too good.

I did once look at a compressor using a 289 engine. It was running on 4 and using 4 as the compressor. That was a commercial company sandblasting a swimming pool and the unit appeared quite professional. Years ago and my look was just brief but my recollection is that it was a Smith unit.
