miker, when I lived in Issaquah back in the 90's this was always a great show!! Thanks for posting!!!:)

Hello Member Was at local show yesterday probably 10 or 12 early fords before 48 there. All but one (had a cool Olds rocket) brand X engines. Like to see something else YBs, flats.

It’s still a great show, probably as many cars and people as I’ve seen there. And ive been there for 20 years or so.

If you’re from Issaquah, did you know the Triple X closed last fall? Burger master bought it and are in process of a remodel. They’ll try to bring the shows back to at least some degree.

For those of you in other places, that was the iconic drive in for cars for many years. All year, the Volvo and Saab guys did shows in December and January, rain or snow. They liked the snow the best. Virtually every weekend of the whole year.

Yes, nice to see a Y block done old style. Warms my heart.

Yes, Triple X was quite a landmark!!! It was at one of their shows that I found a flyer for a '39 Deluxe Fordor in a gentleman's collection up in Friday Harbor. Bought it, restored it with help from the Auburn Machine Shop, and it was my introduction to flatheads and old Fords!!

Thanks for the update!!!

I was there with my 57 Ranchero and say a car with # 2964, a lot of 46-48 fords from Canada at our Hotel. We were 1.6 miles from the fairgrounds and it took 1-1/2 hrs. to get to the entrance gate.

I was at Good-Guys Columbus this year. The heat and humidity was pretty bad. Year over year the heat and humidity is getting to take a bite out of the attendance. All the asphalt does not help. The dragstrip east of Columbus does not appear to be big enough to hold all the cars. It's a big problem, and aside from changing the date, or going to another town I don't know what they are going to do. This is getting to be a frequent problem at the Columbus meet. Ya know, if not enough cars come the only thing the orginazation knows to do is raise prices (member, and meet). They have fixed expenses, and the family that owns the thing has a certain standard of living...

Part of the "heat and humidity" problem is our age. I was at the NSRA 50th a couple of years ago. It was a sea of grey, so many scooters you had to look both ways to enter a sidewalk. When we were "young and bullet proof" none of that was an issue. Matter of fact sitting through a serious rain storm was never an issue. As I age I find the willingness to put up with high temps, wet weather and long drives most unappealing. My wife can no longer ride in the 36 (late model Mustang seats) for anything more than 50 -60 mile runs unlike when we drove from Norfolk, VA to Columbus, OH non-stop. Now, having said all of that, I still love hitting the shop, building and driving but no longer enjoy the prospect of driving long distances to hit a car show.
