Gas pedal assembly

On my broth- in- laws 29 roadster were having trouble with the gas pedal
springing back. We took the assemble off the transmission and put a new spring on it. We put it back together and it really worked great but found the throttle lever was not working. So we took it apart again and got the levers in the correct spots so the lever was working but now the gas pedal does not spring back again. Any ideas please??

It is very easy to bend this assembly if it is not removed from the engine when removing the engine for work. Yours must be tweaked somewhere and putting the gas pedal in a bind.

From what you have written, I am going to guess that the problem is with the hand throttle mechanism. Make sure the arm at the bottom rotates freely and does not interfere in any way. Maybe some oil or grease in the right location. Check the whole assembly for free movement and make sure the floorboard is not interfering.

Two additional thoughts... Have you tried lubing it in the oilholes at the top shaft? Also, what happens if you add another rotation of the main shaft to add more spring tension??
