Gas filler tube problems

I can't seem to be able to put gas into my tank at more than a slight trickle before it backs up and spills over. It takes a long time to fill the tank. Anyone else having this problem? ('36 coupe)

It sounds like the vent tube in the neck is stopped up or you have a wrong neck without a vent tube.

Here is the vent tube on the '36. Ed

Had the same problem, cut me a length of clear plastic house about 3/8 id .shouve it down in the neck when you get gas to let air out. stick it under seat till you need gas . Don P

Most of the new pumps at gas stations do that. Sometimes turning the neck of the pump handle so it kind of follows the bend in the filler pipe helps. I had a real bad one yesterday and was almost tempted to go to another station. They seem to work better after a gallon or so is pumped or maybe it's me getting the flow cut back to where it takes it. I also noticed most of the new handles with the big rubber seal close off the top of the filler neck and don't spit back. I heard this type removes the fumes?? G.M.

I agree, a piece of fuel injection line hose works good and won't break down, the killer is a lot of guys drop the hose down in there. Almost need to make a little filler helper with an attachment to keep the tube from dropping in.
