Fuel pump problem

Friend has a 55 fordY block just rebuilt with not 500 miles and had problems with not 1 but 5 fuel pumps. Any ideas?

lol describe the problems and then maybe the guys in here can figure it out for you, in fact i know they can, one question, were the chinese pumps? if so i dont think you need to look much farther

You might have 5 good fuel pumps in a pile.
Unscrew the fuel line from the gas tank. If gas starts pouring out, that should be okay.
If not pop the fuel sending unit off the top of the gas tank and look inside as best you can with a flashlight. Any obstrctions to the fuel pickup tube in there?

What do you think the chances are that 5 fuel pumps are bad right out the box, chinese made or not... Maybe you had a good pump that you replaced with 5 pumps, when all a long you have bad lines or a rusty fuel tank.

Engine is rebuilt, but were the lines replaced? Tank new or cleaned?
