From pewter to babbitt.

Hi All..
Id like to make some babbitt bearing metal from tin based pewter by adding copper powder.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the process?
Regards Kevin

Not an expert but I would worry about what is actually in the pewter besides what should be there or contaminates it might contain. How would you test it to know if lead or tin based pewter?
I stick with known brands and grades when it comes to buying Babbitt (yes I have done the mains on a couple of T engines). I get what you are trying to do and where you are located but why mess around with too many unknowns? Shipping shouldn't be that bad (?) from Australia to get the good stuff.

if you just added powdered copper to molten tin it would stay as granular copper particles .
The tin would have to be added to the molten copper for it to combine.
