Welcome FK 1955 to Ford Barn.
FK 1955 is looking for a Water Pump for his Ford Koln Ambulance
Can anyone help him?

Re: Ford Köln Ambulance

Hard to tell from the photos but the rear distributor might mean it's a 337 big truck/Lincoln engine. if so there is currently a set for sale on eBay.

Re: Ford Köln Ambulance

I think this may be the "French flathead" engine... not 337 Lincoln.Try posting on the "early V8" side of the forum. The guys there know a lot about these engines.

Re: Ford Köln Ambulance

My understanding is that the French flathead had a front mounted distributor similar to an 8ba

Re: Ford Köln Ambulance

Tell ya one thing; that busted spark plug boot will most certainly leak voltage to ground, so inspect all boots and replace any that are cracked or broken.

Re: Ford Köln Ambulance

Interesting truck--some front sheet metal looka like a '42-'47 Mercury (Canadian Ford) trucks, but the fenders and area around the windshield is different. The US and Canadian trucks had a split windshield.

Re: Ford Köln Ambulance

G29T engines were a product of the Koln Ford plant. They are somewhat unique compaired to other production engines but they do share a lot of characteristics of the Ford Dearborn designs of the period. I would have to see a good photo of a pump that is large enough to make out the overall shape. FoMoCo had three pumps in production during the 8BA years of 1948 through 1953. Ford passenger types, Ford truck types, and Mercury passenger types but the Mercury had two different designs due to an engine mount change in 1950 model year.

The Koln build engines had a rear mounted distributor. The SUMB engines made in France are front mounted. The French engines kept the half bell on the back as the German engines did but the French engine has a governor set up back in that corner instead of a distributor.

If I had to guess, the Koln engines likely had a water pump similar to what the old 1937 through 48 engines had.
