Can you fit the later 28 cast drums onto the early front hubs after you have removed the swaged in front drums
Looking at trying to improve the brakes on friends early 28

When I put cast drums on my early 28 I needed to change the grease baffles to the newer style as well. It's been quite a while but I think that was the only other change I needed to do. The brakes were great with the upgrade.
 
Why not ask the supplier of the cast iron drums if they'll fit the on early hubs?
 
The early AR wheels are a concern when changing drums. If you have the later B type wheel then they work with the later drums. The March 1929 Service Bulletin on page 328 covers this subject.
 
Maybe best thing for me to do is take an early front hub and check what’s required to fit the later cast drums.Lawrie
