Is it possible to switch the bodies of a model a pu cab to a roadster pickup cab, Looking at the photos of both the bed appears to be the same and the nose i.e. hood and fenders appear to be similar Just getting started so I apologize if it seems like a stupid question Tom

Yes,it's not a problem. It's much easier if you stay with the two year body styles,28-29 or 30-31.You can mix all four years, but the front crossmember can be a problem mixing the early and lates.

MOST Model A bodies are "switchable." There are some exceptions when you get to the "low production - high end" Model As, but the exceptions usually come in the body mounts - which can be modified/added/subtracted.

As to going from 82A/B Closed Cab Pickup CAB to 76A/B RPU body - one could be removed and the other replaced keeping in mind that the body change would begin at the cowl pillar. I.e. the original gas tank, firewall, steering would all stay with the chassis and the body serves to "overlay" at the cowl pillar/windshield lower rail area.

It is a challenge to get the welting between the gas tank/cowl and the lower windshield rail/pillar straight - but it is possible.

Yep. Done it. As long as it's the same year block like Keith said. Except when I did it, went the other way- From a roadster to a closed cab.

In the late 70's I was driving a 30 coupe/WW2 pickup conversion my uncle had given me.Then I bought a 30 AA carcass with a pretty good cab on it.I did the cab up nice, bought a new Mack Hils bed,and put them on my coupe chassis.Years later a friend approached me and asked if I would ever sell my truck.Told him no,because my uncle had given it to me.Come to find out his grandfather had given him the AA,and his dad,(kind of an ornery guy)had sold it to the attorney I bought it from.I worked with my friend on and off,and after a couple of weeks we figured I really wasn't attached to that pickup cab,and would like an open cab.So he bought me a new Brookville open cab,and traded me for his old one.I put that on the chassis, and that's how I'm driving it today. He got his old cab back, blasted, repaired, painted, upholstered, reglassed and retopped, and I got a nice new open cab.

I went from a Tudor to a roadster to a closed cab pickup with my high school car over a period of thirty years. CA-DMV required getting it weighed before they would change the registration to the commercial body style. I had bill of sale for the pu body. The bolt holes needed were in the 1929 frame. All were 28-29 bodies.
