Door & window handles

I have a 52 2dr sedan, and I've been trying to get the handles off with no luck. I bought the tool and tried a cloth. I'm not sure how far back I have to go to get to that clip as it's hard to tell with the door panel. Really frustrating. I need to replace the glass as it has a crack in it. Any other ideas besides keep trying. Lol Thanks for any help. Tom...

Push / pry the pad back. Probably has the spring behind it.GM has a horseshoe clip. Rag are proper tool works. If you can see the clip you can get it out. Hook can help also.

i've been assuming the window and door handles on my '41 are secured with solid or rolled pins that run through the handles and studs they attach to. so i'm wondering if that is the case with your car. soooo....
