Door panel repair

I removed the door panel from my 36 and many of the panel clips were torn away from panel.

Is there an easy way to fill in missing or torn panel? My thought was hot melt glue to fill in missing panel.

I have a 34 Ford , I just did repairs on the door panels , got some thin aluminum, cut it in a square or to conform to the area needing repair, folded it so that it went about an inch in and tucked it under the material with a hole on the side with the panel clip, put the clip in place and used hot glue to secure it, also the hot glue to hold any areas where the material needs to be secure, also used aluminum backing circles , for the spring to ride on where the handles are located .

Fill in the damaged area with fiberglass cloth and resin patch. Let harden and "remake the hole for the clip.
