Disguarding nuts after one use

You are absolutely right ! But, it ain't gonna happen ! Not in our life time. There is just too big a spread in wage differences.
Plus, as Charlie Stephens said, we will accept crap, if the price is right.
How about the water-pumps that Bob D. had made in China, where the bolt holes did not line up and nobody inspected them, until they got to the comsumer. They were shoddy, but cheap to Bob D.

I just bought a replacement bumper for my 66 Lemans. The sticker on the back says "Made in Taiwan". I haven't mounted it to the car yet but the visual is very good. I heard that the reason for plating overseas is the strict EPA rules here. When attaching the brackets to the bumper the holes were a few thousandths too small. When drawing the bolt tight the square shoulder was also a few thousandths small. I attribute that to their conversion from metric to SAE and not understanding our system.

Wire brush the exposed threads. clean the internal threads with the correct bolt and Kroil. That old ford steel really cleans up good. Bob
