I have a ‘47 half ton PU with 6V +ground. The fuel and oil pressure gauges work intermittently. I really don’t want to hang aftermarket gauges on this truck. Any advice on where to start diagnostics? Also any recommendations for an aftermarket tach?

This is not the place for car questions, but my suggestion is to check all your electrical connections, including those unrelated to the gauges in question. Intermittant problems usually, but not always, means a poor connection or a bad ground. Take some sandpaper or similar and clean all the connections and check for corrosion Also check your connectors for a loose wire
