Cotter Pin On Brake Shoe Pin

The head of the "Brake Roller Pin" must slide on the track behind the shoe. So to get that, the cotter pins must face out.

At the Brake Adjusting Shaft end of the shoe, it probably does not matter, but I put the cotter pins on facing out to match the roller pins. Then they look nice.

Do not mix up the roller pin for the pin that attaches the brake adjusting shaft. The heads are a different diameter and a different shape.

I have just done a set of front brakes and I found that the rollers I had were too thick. There was not enough room on the pin for them and the shoe for me to get the split pin in. Has anybody else had this? I have another set to do soon so I am looking for solutions.

Make your own pins, then you can get the shoes concentric, after you have squared up the roller tracks, easy job to turn them up and harden them
