Choke rod knob removal - how?

I have never seen an original one that could be removed because I am thinking they are moulded on.

One way to restore them is to build up the worn areas of the rod with weld and file it back round. Then re-serrate the knob for deep knurling to make the Judge "happy" followed by re-polishing the knob, ...then encapsulate the knob in liquid plastic to protect the finish when you have the rod sent for cad plating. (lotta work for little reward IMO!!)

.

Some I have seen were cad plated then the knob was buffed which removed the cad as well as polishing.

Roger , that's what i do.. cad plate the whole rod +knob then buffed the cad off the knob. I tried one time drilling the knob and threading it to a rod....no good...the rod was shot anyway.

My cad plater had some sort of masking substance they used on the knob. It worked fine. No need to buff off and worry about buffing off details of the serrated edge.
