Hi, I need pictures of the location of the VIN numbers on the chassis of a 27 ford roadster. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please send pictures to jim@tringali.org. Thanking you in advance for any help. jim.t.
For most of 1926 and all of 1927, theres numbers on top of the frame rail by the front passengers feet under the boards... these are usually faint and may be obscured by paint or grease etc. IF youre really lucky, they match the engine numbers on the drivers side of the block just above the water inlet... Then compare them to the title...ws
Jim, even though I don't know you and even if it looks like you might own a '59 Vette I'll still give you a little information. When I looked for the serial number on the frame I couldn't make it out until I took a wire brush and really worked the frame over. The number is big enough to make out though one it's cleaned out it's pretty easy to see. When you pick up the part of the floorboards that lay flat it'll be right there in front of you. If it's stamped on the frame just wire brush it a little and you'll see it. But as Will said, not all '26 vehicles were stamped and after 85 years the engine may have been changed a couple different times. Good luck.
Thanks for your reply, yes I have my 59 Corvette (50) years I also just sold my late 31 Model A tudor sedan deluxe because I lost my storage space, my niece got married and I couldn't see my A outside. I am presently building a 27 Runabout / with a Box, at least that's what the Registration said until NY Motor Vehicles changed it to a Two Door Convertible, the chassis is just about toast. I needed to know where the numbers were.
Thank you for the reply.
