Did a search on setting the caster on a model a ,
Do anything of you know a way of setting the caster on a a thanks for all the information

The caster is built into the front end, providing you have a straight frame and front axel, and good front spring, when you connect the front wishbone to the bell housing it provides the correct caster. A bent wishbone will effect the caster; this simetimes occurs when someone jacks up the front of the A using the wishbone as a jacking point. The camber is also built into the front end by the front spindles; again a bent axel will effect the camber, as will worn spindle bolt holes in the axel.

If I remember correctly the caster should be 5 degrees.. Like Ron said, it should be correct if everything is straight.. It can/could be changed by shimming the ball..

Five degrees is the correct caster. Where we have found problems is with both the float a motor motor mounts and the cast aluminum housing and rubber ball on the bell housing mount. Both of these threw the caster out. We did an article on this in Winter 2005 Model A Times, discussing the front end geometry.

The axle must be bent in order to change caster or camber. Years ago you could buy a spacer to go under the wishbone pivot that would increase it some but I would stay with the stock 5 degrees unless you are doing something different with the car, like racing it or???
