I understand that this is an after market carb. Winfield model M. What can anyone tell me about them. Reliable? Hard to find?

It looks like a carb that you would find on a well head engine that would start on gasoline then run on natural gas.

They work much better than most 1920's era carbs as they have 3 adjustable jets ( low, intermediate and high speed) and thus can be tuned to your engine needs. Yes reliable but not terribly hard to find, often come up on ebay.

Layden,

I take it that the green, pipe fitting assembly does not belong with the carb. What is the ball affair that obviously is in 2 halves - air valve perhaps?

Thanks everyone, This one is in great shape. It ws adapted to fit a single cylinder "hit and miss" engine. My friend had the right one for the engine so he took this one off. The bulb is hollow, only thing there is the choke butterfly. Not used for natural gas.
