Car Cover

A while ago someone asked about car covers and which brand was best.

I replied after other opinions about this being best and that being worst, mentioned that I just had order a cover for my 1949 Ford Station Wagon from California Car Covers (not one of the favorites in the discussion).

So it arrived while I was in Montana (and side trip to the motorcycle capital of the world -- Sturgis SD).

Here are pictures of my 1949 Ford Ranch Wagon custom made (because they no longer have an inventory on hand).

I think it fits great -- really strong elastic around front and rear. The radio antenna hole was a challenge -- but I did great.

I think it fits great -- really strong re! comment on the radio antenna brings back memories of my California Car Cover side-mirror challeng around front and rear. The radio antenna hole was a challenge -- but I did great.

Bruce, your antenna challenge reminds me of my own Cal Cover challenge with side mirrors! Like yours, determining the precise location, and then to make the cuts was a heart-attack moment! Yes, I got them both located correctly, a happy ending, but seriously considered just letting the cover bulge out at those points.

I have California Car Covers for a couple of my cars and they fit good and seem to be well made. One is about 40 yeas old and still in good condition

Maybe yours doesn't, but the antenna on my '47 Merc easily unscrews from the base by hand whenever I need to cover the car. No hole needed.

I'm glad you are pleased. That's all that really matters.

Me? I would not be whatsoever. Custom made? For what? The fact that there are wrinkles tells me it is not custom made but rather, a "near fit" aka, one-size fits all station wagons.
I suppose it's okay considering the price.

And YOU had to install the hole for the antenna?

Hey, you haven't seen me do the wash yet. All my X-large shirts are are now Large.

Besides -- they said it's for a ranch wagon. It fits. It will never be on when the car is outside.
