Can someone explain a mystery quiet?

Tom this is easy after being born your model a road some of the worst roads in history, So I'm sure its just thinking wow this is great road just a little rutting, did you solo the trip are were there others

I drove it alone. I tied on an extra tire and inner tube in case the od tires gave out, but they all did fine. Those 50 year old tires might be better than the new import tires and tubes. Wish I had fixed the leaking tubes sooner or put the car on jack stands, then I'd have a few less sidewall cracks.

I think it is in the shocks. Modern shocks are a straight connection to the frame/body instead of a link and they control the speed of movement of the suspension. Model A shocks have the connecting link and the arm and act more like a soft cushion for the suspension. I think sound will travel through the direct connection better and will be absorbed better by the mass and right angle connections of the Model A.

Tom, sorry about your Mom, but remember the good times. Nobody can take those memories away from you.

I forgot to mention that I don't have any shocks connected. I'm still looking for some good original shock links.

Shucks.....I drive a F350 for everyday use, and when we cross the rail crossings or hit the rumble strips on the side of the road, you sure know where you are, as you put your teeth back in. When I drive the Model A across the rail track crossings or on the highway rumble strips, you can hardly tell that they are there. Quite a thing.

Try the "speed bumps" that folks put in streets. The A just floats over them nice and quiet with no fuss at all. Maybe the Minnesota bumps are made of lutefisk?

Sorry to hear about your mother, time does move on - condolences.

I believe you, when the A was made it was to ride well on washboard roads and it still does here in vermont..... Takes the washboard dirt roads much better and quieter tank my modern rides. I will have to try it on the road side rumble strips and compare much of my driving is on road so I am not familiar......
