Buster Keaton 1927

I love that guy. He was a genius. It's amazing the things he did without the technology that they have today. It's a wonder he didn't die from some of his stunts.

Filmed in my neighborhood, Cottage Grove, Oregon. The track bed is now a bike/jogging path. A steam train excursion used to run there before everyone got too concerned with liability.

Yes he was great, I remember I had ( The General ) in 8mm film and shared it with my high school class back in the day.

Buster Keaton’s pain threshold was amazingly high. When filming The General there was a scene in which he’s refilling the locomotive from an elevated water vat. The person-sized funnel popped off the pipe, and the huge gush of water knocked Keaton off the train roof onto the track below. He had a headache, but continued filming. Years later he had an x-ray and the doctor asked when he had cracked a vertebra. He hadn’t realized it.

Buster Keaton's son lived near Solvang, CA He was a great guy, and drove his Model A speedster on a regular basis. I forget his name but it was not Keaton because they didn't want him to be recognized every where he went. His speedster had a third headlight that turned when he turned the steering wheel. It was powered by a rare Miller with the intakes overhead cam and stock exhaust valves. His mom was also a movie star, I think she had 2 sisters that were also stars, a famous lady, so I think the name was well recognized ant way???
