Best paint for running boards?

I am painting my Model T running boards using spray paint cans. What is the best brand of gloss black paint to use to make the painting more lasting. Thanks in advance. :)

Honestly I don't think aerosol paint is going to last long on running boards. But there is a low cost option that you can do that will last a long time and you don't need a spray gun or air compressor.

You can buy a quart of black enamel with a "performance pack" polyurethane additive, such as the Marhyde brand (there are many brands, any paint store has one or more). Buy a couple of Preval brand disposable sprayers. Preval sprayers are available at any paint store or home improvement warehouse. These allow you to shoot high quality paint without having to own a compressor and spray gun.

Follow the instructions for mixing the enamel / polyurethane hardener / thinner precisely. Then spray your running boards with the hardened enamel, which will be much more durable than rattle can paint.

Better option: have the running boards powder coated.

Tom another route if you must use spray cans is appliance epoxy spray cans. I think it is made by Rustoleum, requires no primer and is quite durable. Contact Steve Jelf, I believe he has had very good results with the product. Gary

A lot of rattle cans are not a true black. You want A jet black automotive paint. If you have to brush them.
