Battery tray

Hi there,

I have trouble for the exact location of the battery tray.
I've got the support and the tray which were out of the car.
In the shop manual there is no picture of the exact position.
Does anyone have a picture of the detachment on the car?
Thanks in advance!

grtz from the Netherlands,

Here is the ILL from the parts book -

If not large enough will re-enter later.

grtz from the Netherlands,
Found during a quick google search...

Along the rear of the radiator support, between the inner fender and radiator.
At this link... Click on "Show More Photos".

Look at photo # 17
The car was updated to 12 volt electrical.

Thank you for your help.
@Kultulz: I have the shop manual that has the same image in it. But I don't see where the mountingpoints for the tray supportbracket (partnumber 10765) is on the front of the car.
@dmsffr: I have googled myself for pictures but I can not find a image where the supportbracket for the tray is mounted on the car.

So I'm still looking for the exact position or exact mountingpoints for the support bracket.

grtz,

Finally I found a picture that wil help me.
Its on barnfinds.com but I cannot post the link due to not enough posts on this forum (must be 10)

grtz,

See if the below ILL shows large enough to read. If not, I can enlarge (through another member) but may take a while (hrs).

The 1955 FORD 10756 is mounted (sandwiched) between the 16138 and 8104 as shown on the ILL.

Now 1956 is a little different in case the SHEET METAL ILL does not show as correct.

grtz,
I would hope if the bracket you have is a correct original style and the radiator support is also original... there should be bolt holes that line up when the parts are placed next to each other in their assumed correct position.
But it doesn't seem to be the case...

Next question.

partnumber 6869 on the image is the crankcase ventilation
There is some kind of filter in it.
Should that be renewed/replaced? Or leave it be?

thnx in advance!

grtz,

That is the ROAD DRAFT SYSTEM (crankcase ventilation) on an early FYB and needs to be serviced on a regular basis or it will not ventilate the crankcase properly (as designed).

The assembly needs to be removed and thoroughly cleaned paying close attention to the drain-back tube being clear.

You will need a filter element (WIX 59QKMD - or equivalent) and mounting gasket.

The oil filler cap is the outside fresh air source for the system. The original cap had hogs hair as the filtering media. It needs to be soaked in a solvent until clean or replaced. It is a OPEN SYSTEM and the cap has to be open and contain a filtering media.
