After Market Accessories

Yesterday I was watching an old movie on TCM, it was a WWII era movie with Van Johnson (don’t know the title). There was a scene where a woman pulled up to a fence at an airport in a ’38 Ford Convertible Coupe. The car was equipped with what I assume were after market stainless gravel shields on the front and rear fenders. The shields were attached at the running board and followed the contour of the fenders up to about six inches or so. I would really like to find some (if they were ever made) to put on our ’39 Convertible Sedan. Have any of you ever seen or know about this accessory?

The movie may have been 'Battleground'. Was going to say lot's of luck but you will probably need more than that.:)
(programmed my U-verse DVD recorder to see if I can get a peek at it)

Ken, don't ya know... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Who knows, they might have even been a Ford Approved Accessory:D

Well Paul,ya gotta be a little leery of a guy that runs around with a cigar store indian in the back of his panel truck for company haha. just kidding vic. LOL ken ct.

Vic I got a set of NOS Mud Flaps that would look good on that 39? You would be the only guy down south with them.

Back in 1965, when I was 16 and had just bought my first car, a '48 Ford TuDor Turtleback Sedan, I went to the local Aid Auto store and bought my very first auto accessory, a pair of "ground straps". They had a lightning bolt painted in white on the black rubber; we called them "lightning grabbers". They were on my '48 and years later I put them on the '39... Had to take them off when I installed the dual exhaust. Maybe I'll hang them on the Cigar Store Indian...

Fox and/or Squirrels tails don't work well with a center mounted (over the windshield) antenna, especially when the tops down...:D
