AA or Not?

I am starting the rebuild of the running gear for Dad's 29' Tudor.
The axle being bent had to be stripped down to straighten. It was then I noticed the two capital A's on the back side of the axle, as well the front spring has twelve leaves. Hmmmm.....could this be a truck axle?
Are there any other differences between the car/p/u and AA truck axles?

Neil Wilson would be the guy in the know but here is my opinion.

The "AA" on the axle, I THINK, has nothing to do with the axle being for a truck. I think it had to do with the, Hmmmmm, "tensil strength" or the type of steel of the metal iself. I think Marco knows something about this.

From 1928 till about January 1930, the axles were the same for both the "A" and "AA" vehicles. It was then that Ford made a much heavier duty front axle for the AA's. (MARC/MAFCA RG's and JS)

Also the 1928 and most 1929 "AA"s used the 12-leaf spring with the same width as the "A" springs BUT the AA springs were much thicker. (MARC/MAFCA RG's and JS)

I think the Front Spring Pearch Assembly was different to?????

Yes, the ball on the front spring perch for the AA sits about 1/2" or so higher.

Has anyone tried to use these with normal A shock arms/shocks?

Hello Rich,
As you are asking if these AA perches can be used on a model A does this mean you have a pair of these. if so are you interested selling them, PM me regarding price.
