Gentleman i have a chance of getting a 60's f250 4x4 i belive it has a 352 motor 4 speed was a former service truck for a friends fathers trucking company i took this truck apart at least 10 yrs ago to start a restoration only got as far as changing out the core support the owner had the inner steps and cab mounts repaired truck has original paint and has been stored in a portable garage have'nt seen it lately but was clean for its age the last time i saw it have to finish the ranchero first so this may be the next project my question is it has round tailamps like the falcon econline pickups what year is this

58? -'63 on the Stylesides. Unibody had a longer rectangular shape for those years and the stepsides were typical stepside boxy shaped

If the truck has round tail lights and quad head lights it is a '59 or 60 Ford.. The '61-65 Ford 4x's, especially the F250's are a completely different truck from the '59-60...
If you are sure the truck has a 352 it is most likely a '66... The '59 to '64's are all either a 240 CID 6 or the 292 Y block..
The 4 x 4's '61-62 never came with the Uni-body. The 4x's were either step side beds or had the '57-60 Style-side bed...
I have a '59 F-100 4 x 4 w/292 V8, I also have a '66 F-250 4 x 4 w/352.... The '65-66 F-250 4xs are very rare, something like only 1,500 built.
The 4x trucks are doing very well in the market.... '59-60 are high book right at $19,000. The 65-66 books at close to the same price...
The '65-66 F-250 4 x 4 is very unusual in that it appears to have been built to a military spec, it has the same chassis suspension as a 1-1/2 ton truck.. roller block spring ends in lieu of shackles. This truck is on a par with the Dodge Power Wagons only better with higher highway speeds, a V8 engine and creature comforts.

Additional info on the F-100/250 4xs...
The cabs, front fenders and core supports, and many chassis parts on the 4xs are 4x only.. The cabs have additional cross bracing, the core supports are spring mounted..
The '65-66 F-250/350 4xs use the '63-64 cab with the built in running boards which the '65-66 trucks did not use because of the twin I-beam front ends in lieu of the solid axle.
The steering gears in the 4xs is generally Sagina in lieu of the typical Genner that Ford used for years. The steering columns also differ from the normal trucks.. it is very similar to the larger 1-1/2 ton trucks..
The front fenders on the 4x's.. '59-66 have larger wheel openings... if you look closely at the side view pix of my '66 F-250 you can note the larger wheel opening... The inner fenders on "65-66 4x's are the same as the '63-64..
I think that the front fenders on all of the '59-66 Ford 4xs are the same as the larger trucks.. If you look at the cowl attachment point, you will see an external carriage type bolt in lieu of a concealed bolt..

the one i'm looking at is like the white one in the pictures

The middle pix, showing a side view of my '66 F-250 4x was taken when I first saw the truck sitting in a farmers equipment yard... The truck was a typical farm truck that had been used and abused, doing it's intended job..
The hood on the truck is not correct, it is a '57-58 hood, the grille is a '63-64.
As you can see from the third pix I have stripped away the incorrect sheet metal and removed the dead 352 V8... I am also changing the bed from the Style-side '57-60, which the truck came with to a correct '65-66 bed to match the cab lines..
The F-250 4xs have an unusual wheel base which is shorter than the normal F-250.. I have to shorten the '65-66 bed 9" between the wheel well and header panel to allow for the shorter wheel base. The bed will not be stock, however, it will look a lot better because the body lines will match...
Of course most people will never know that I modified the bed because it will look like the average '65-66 truck.
