Anyone know where I can get a Nuteral safety switch for a 57 small block two speed xmission four door station wagon? thanks

I saw some on ebay "ford 1957" I think they maybe the same for all 1957 Fords with automatic transmissions.

take the two wires off the nuetral switch and wire them together - it works fine. it will start in any gear. just make sure its in park and keep your foot the the brake when starting. i have a 55 and 57 they are both wired that way ---no problems. i have new switch i will put in SOMEDAY.

This is the best way to smash your or another car. No problems? just wait til that time you forget. How about the time when someone else gets in your car and starts it when in reverse or drive?

My 56 will not start in park witch I wish it did. Only start on Neutral. Now what year neutral switch do I need so it will start in Park also? Does NAPA have them?

Call Green Sales They stock new switches about 60.00 or so. But you should use a 1958 switch, it will work on 55 to 58 that I know of, but the diffrence is it will start in park or neutral.

The 1957 and earlier equipped FordOmatics start in neutral ONLY if still equipped with the original starter neutral switch.

If you are parked even on the slightest incline with your FordOmatic in PARK and your parking brake cable fails, it often causes damage to the park pawl assembly in the FordOmatic resulting in the park detent to become inoperable.
They did make a park safety switch for automatics at some point but I dont think the factory installed them with FordOmatics due to the park pawl assembly design.
Nevertheless, you can buy new starter neutral switches from many repo part suppliers that allow for starting in Park if you select the 1957 or later model number

Found the Motorcraft part number for the switch... SW-781 below
that CITF-7A247-A I tried years ago to get from diffrent auto parts stores with no luck, That's how I found Green sales. Might find more information at WWW.57ford.com Good luck. Gerry

Hi I just saw a new 1957 Ford netural switch on ebay buy it now $35.00 plus shipping. Another place to buy this is MCDonald opsolete parts they are the one selling the one on ebay. Just thought I would let you know as you will have to be careful if you do as some say and disconect it and let it start in any position.

Keep in mind a 57 switch will only start in neutral. What you are looking for is 1958 switch. direct replacement but starts in park or neutral. Gerry
