55 Wagon gas tank sending unit

Senior Moment! Parklane I think you are 100% correct. Beautiful car in your avatar. Looks like one I used to have? (grin) BOSSY

Parklane you are correct. 1956 is the only year that the gauges received straight 12 volts un-interrupted by any type of reducer or regulator.
In fact, I was using a '56 gas guage with the original '56 sending unit, but now that I am being forced to use an aftermarket sender, I am going to re-install the original '55 guage with a constant voltage regulator wired ahead of the guage input terminal.

NPD has a gauge and sending unit that comes as a matched set for '57 Tbird.
I adapted them to fit my '54 Country Squire after running out of gas twice.

The gauge bolts in the dash but looks slightly different because it doesn't have a "F" and "E".
I shortened the sender arm and it works great.

The car was already 12v when I bought it.
