'49 Merc Rear Window

Anyone have any experience putting the chrome trim on rear window? Should I do it before or after I install the window? Sure having a hard time. I can't picture FMC stopping the assembly line to do this. There has to be an easier way. thanks for any help.

I have a 50 Merc and I installed the stainless trim before installing the window. It wasn't easy keeping everything together but take your time and pay attention. Then I moved the completed assembly to the car and did the string trick and had it installed in 15 minutes. I had never installed any glass before but I asked at a glass shop and they told me how to do the string trick and it works slick. I had my brother help because he was pulling the string inside as I was seating the seal with the heal of my hand outside as we worked our way around the window. Good luck!

thanks for the info. wife and I did the '50 merc about 6 yrs ago but the '49 three piece is really breaking stones. thanks for you help.
