460 into a 1963 galaxie

Been done plenty of times. It's what people install when they find out the cost of rebuilding a FE. Crites carries the frame brackets to make the switch.

I gave up on it,I had a 517 (460) in my 63 conv. The right header hit the body mount, and there wasn't enough room for a clutch fan.I would have had to go to a scoop or a tear drop hood, and I didn't want to do that.I had a 427 so, I put that into my 63.I used Crites motor mounts, the 1st.mounts he sent me positioned the engine to far forward. The 2nd mounts he sent were much better, but still didn't move the engine far enough to the rear. Also I had to grind the fins down on the top of the trans.

I read somewhere that one of his fabricators walked out and took a lot of how-to information with him. This was last year, no idea what impact it had on their service.

I just put one in a 62 galaxie convertible. The trans X member from crites won't work on the conv. so I had to manufacture one. That leaves me with an extra X member if interested.
