Putting 460/c6 in 1962 ford galaxie convertible. Have the engine installed with the correct mounts. Does anyone make a transmission cross member for this installation? Any and all help appreciated. Melisa

What does Crites Performance suggest? I'd think that the stock cross member would work with at the most an adapter plate.

Crites has motor mounts that position engine close to the firewall. You'll want it as close to the firewall as possible to make room for a fan.I had a 517 inch 460 in my 63 convertible, but threw up my hands and put a 427 in that I had.The right header hit the body mount, the engine was too tall and would require a scoop, and there wasn't any room for a fan.

Crites transmission mount came in Sat. Wouldn't work on 62 Galaxie sunliner. Called them and was told to return for credit(great people to work with) seems convertible frame different from regular Galaxie frame. Asked if they had a solution and was told no, not enough interest in 62 sunliner to warrant expence and research to build. . So I'm hoping someone here has a solution.. 460 engine and transmission installed except for trans mount.

Well, if they don't make it it's likely to be a "fabricate as needed". Might be helpful to know where abouts you are to refer you to someone.

Yup, with swaps and such, you have to know how to make things or know someone who knows how to make things.

yea. your right. I'm between Baton Rouge and N.O.. When I bought this project it came with the motor mounts and the cross member that was to fit. Welding is one of the things I have yet to learn.. Will crawl under the car and take some measurements and see what I can do. Guess there's no easy way out of this one. Melisa

Go to your local craft store and buy some of that foam board material. A 1/4" sheet might be okay and you can hot-glue it to make it thicker or add pieces off it.

Same goes with cheap pine, cuts easy and you can screw it together to experiment. Do the rough work in pizza boxes and foam board, final rough draft in pine. From there someone can copy it and make it in metal.

Thanks! Spent yesterday under car, took original cross member and cut it down to where I have the c6 bolted in place. I can now take your advise and make some templets. Thanks again. Melisa

I was fortunate when I put a 460/C6 in my '71 F100. Ford made all the correct motor mounts/brackets for that. The frame was even pre drilled for them.
