40 ford custom interior and car done!

To me, a '40 Ford is too beautiful to be a "patina car". If you want to do that, buy a '47 Plymouth. As Sly Stone usta say, "Diff'runt strokes for diff'runt folks".;)

I've enjoyed your thread. My "1942 Ford deluxe coupe project" thread I think was a similar thought process. I get comments asking when I'm going to paint the car, but more saying leave it just the way it is. My thought is if I was going to repaint mine, I should've blown everything apart to do it right. On mine I'm not sure the value would be there afterwards and the loss of driving time at my age is important too. I have my 48 if I want something bright and shiny.

Thanks. Some more thoughts on paint. Dead horse>beat it! I’m all about painting cars. Painted my vw bus (myself…turned out nice) after discovering someone had done a repair in the past and painted half of it. Since it was not 100% original, I painted it. Hundreds of hours of sanding and bla bla bla. It was fun to do once. Then I proceeded to back into my garage shelf the second day out. So that was cool. Today I was standing on top of my 40 installing a tennis ball from my garage rafters so I know just exactly how far to pull in to maximize garage space on the side with the 40. Couldn’t stand on a nice shiny car! Scraaaaaatch…oh well add to the story vs scraaaaatch…..mof’er I just spent hundreds of hours painting it! I prefer the former.

Patina, why stop with the car? Why not your house, your shoes, your teeth?
It's a patina palooza!!!!!

Whaaat? Now there's something wrong with 'patina' in your house and clothes? I'm a pretty good tooth brusher though. But seriously, if your jeans get a bit worn and faded do you buy a box of Rit dye and 'restore' them back to new? I think Busmania is spot on.
